Walk-in Interview: Library Professional Trainee

Job Details

The Central Library of NIT Delhi invites applications for the position of Library Professional Trainee (purely temporary). This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates in Library and Information Science to gain professional experience.

Duration

The maximum tenure is one year from the date of joining, with a possibility of extension for another year based on performance and institutional requirements. The maximum duration cannot exceed two years.

Essential Qualifications

• First Division in Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from a recognized Indian university.
• Applicants must have passed MLIS in 2023 or 2024. Candidates awaiting final results may also apply but must produce proof of qualification during the interview.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified UGC-NET/SLET.
• Knowledge of Computer Applications and Library Management/Digital Library Software.
• Experience in developing and designing library websites or institutional repositories.

Age Limit

Not exceeding 27 years as of 16th December 2024.

Work Responsibilities

The trainee will be responsible for all library-related tasks and may need to work odd hours, including shifts and holidays on a rotational basis.

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on academic performance and performance in the personal interview.

Note: Accommodation will be provided during the tenure as per availability. Training may be terminated with one month’s notice by either side.
